"The Journey Begins with HUMSS: A Choice for Purpose and Change"

"As a graduating student from the HUMSS strand, I’d like to share why this track is a great option for students who are about to enter Senior High School."

Let me first give you an idea of what HUMSS means:

The HUMSS strand, which stands for Humanities and Social Sciences, is ideal for students who are passionate about learning how people think, behave, and interact within society. This track is perfect for those who are naturally curious about culture, history, communication, politics, and human relationships. HUMSS is more than just a study of people — it’s about understanding how society works and how individuals influence and shape the world around them. Through this strand, students are trained to think critically, express themselves clearly through both writing and speaking, and become more socially aware of the issues that affect communities. These skills are not only valuable in daily life but are also highly relevant in various career paths, such as education, law, psychology, journalism, social work, and public service. If you're someone who wants to make a difference and work closely with people, HUMSS is a meaningful and empowering choice for your senior high school journey.

"Why did I choose the HUMSS track?"

I decided to take the HUMSS track because I aspire to become an entrepreneur in the future. For me, success in business isn’t just about being good at numbers or creating plans but it’s also about building connections, understanding people’s needs, and forming meaningful relationships. The subjects offered in the Humanities and Social Sciences, like Communication, Economics, and Social Science, are helping me enhance my communication abilities, critical thinking, and social awareness. These skills are vital when running a business because products and services exist to serve people. A great entrepreneur listens and responds to their community. HUMSS is shaping me to become a compassionate leader, an effective communicator, and a socially responsible businessperson — traits that I hope to bring with me on my entrepreneurial journey.

"Why is it important for a HUMSS student to understand their track?"

It is important for a HUMSS student to fully understand their track because it serves as the foundation for developing the skills and knowledge needed for their future profession. Through subjects like Communication, Economics, History, and Social Sciences, students are trained to think critically, communicate effectively, and become more aware of social issues. These skills are not only useful in the classroom but are even more valuable in real life, where interacting with others, responding to the needs of society, and being a responsible and compassionate leader are essential. By understanding the content and purpose of their strand, a HUMSS student becomes better prepared to face real-world challenges and succeed in their chosen path—whether it be teaching, law, journalism, public service, or entrepreneurship.
